Arc Flash
|
Arc Flash Hazard Analysis is quickly becoming an area that employers are reconizing as an important safeguard and taking steps to ensure the safety of their employees through proper evaluation, training, and correction. OSHA considers the NFPA 70E Standard a recognized industry practice in determing Arc Flash Safety. To be compliant with the NFPA Standard, employers are required to conduct hazard assessments in accordance with 29CFR1910.132(D)(1). If an arc flash hazard is present the employer must select and require employees to use the proper PPE while working around the equipment. Employers who conduct the hazard/risk assessment, and select and require their employees to use protective clothing and other PPE appropriate for the task, as stated in the NFPA 70E standard are deemed in compliance with the Hazard Assessment and Equipment Selection.
